چکیده

We develop an approach to the analysis of average queueing delay in a tree network of discrete-time queues with constant senice time. The analysis of such systems is pertinent to packet-switehed data networks with fixed-length packets. Our solution is based on considering an equivalent network, in which at each node packets in transit are given priority over exogenous arrivals. The solution to the equivalent model is easily computed, and, hence, the solution to the original model can be obtained. On Average and Worst Case Behaviour in Non-Preemptive Priority Queueing

In this paper, we derive worst case bounds on delay and backlog for non-preemptive priority queueing systems using network calculus. There are known results for the average behaviour of non-preemptive priority queueing systems from traditional queueing theory. By use of numerical investigations, we compare our worst case bounds to those average behaviour results in order to give a feel as to ho...

Multi-Objective Lead Time Control in Multistage Assembly Systems (TECHNICAL NOTE)

In this paper we develop a multi-objective model to optimally control the lead time of a multistage assembly system. The multistage assembly system is modeled as an open queueing network, whose service stations represent manufacturing or assembly operations. The arrival processes of the individual parts of the product, which should be assembled to each other in assembly stations, are assumed to...

A modern data communication system consists of a network of information processing stations or nodes interconnected by data transmission channels or links. Information flows from node to node in packetized data units. These packets can originate from a variety of sources, and the paths over which they traverse the network can intersect, so that multiple packets are often intended for delivery o...

Buffering with optical delay lines (ODLs) in optical packetswitching networks is a way to mitigate network contention. We study queueing models of ODLs in synchronous and asynchronous optical packe...

Delay Analysis of the Dqdb Man Based on a Simple Model

IOANNIS STAVRAKAKIS and RANDALL LANDRY University of Vermont CS/EE Dept., Burlington, Vermont 05405 U.S.A. ABSTRACT In this paper a queueing model is developed for the delay analysis of a DQDB station. This model is based on some of the ideas originally presented in [1] and [2] and is analyzed by incorporating the queueing analysis developed in [3]. Delay results are obtained for a tra c load o...
